Tanzania highlights and local culture

Day 03:  Exploring Lake Manyara and its surroundings

Yes, this Tanzania Safari I want to book

After spending most of the previous days in the car you might enjoy to get out for some physical activities and to explore the area at the Rift Valley Escarpment by walk guided by well trained local guides. First you walk through Mto wa Mbu Village where your guided introduce you to the local village and social life, to economic activities, education and many others things. Instead of the village tour your guides can also take you to a large banana plantation, one of the basics of local economy life and explain you about this agricultural meaning. Later you can walk through a small forest inhabited by monkeys and dikdiks which leads to Miwaleni River. Following river is a thrilling (maybe little strenuous) hike and climb over rocks and stones until you finally reach Miwaleni Waterfall hidden in the Rift Valley Escarpment.

After late lunch at your lodge and some rest you can go for a bicycle ride or walk in the plains towards Lake Manyara or visit one of the Masai Villages nearby before you retire in your lodge with a cold drink watching the sunset over the Rift Valley Escarpment.

2nd overnight at migunga lodgeAll meals included

Day 04: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you will proceed driving towards the Ngorongoro Crater Highlands. You descend into the famous Ngorongoro Crater for a wonderful game drives often described as one of the wonders of the world. It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations. It is one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural setting. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, during one game drive only. A picnic lunch will be taken at Lake Magadi while hippos, flamingoes and different bird of preys can be observed.

Driving time without game viewing approx 1 hour

Overnight at Octagon Safari Lodge or Endoro lodgeAll meals included

Day 05: Ngorongoro-Arusha

This morning you will learn again about culture of the region. After visiting the lively market of Karatu Town you visit a descendent of the ancient Irawq tribe who tell you history and traditions of the tribe and whole Tanzania. For the ones preferring it more sportive, a walk on the Endoro Trail in the Ngorongoro forest will be arranged. Hot lunch will be served at a lodge in Karatu before you return to arusha
